Target Tantrum
The tantrums have begun.....Shopping with Lindsey has not been an enjoyable experience lately, so I try to spread out my shopping trips as much as possible. We had to pick up a few things from Target today, so I packed some graham crackers and crossed my fingers. Usually she'll sit in the cart with Jack for a few minutes (one of those horribly large double carts), but today she wouldn't even get in. I didn't want her walking since she runs off or pulls stuff off the shelves, so I decided to carry her. That lasted about 2 seconds and then the screaming, hitting and kicking began. That quickly progressed to hysterics. I had her in a football hold to keep from dropping her as I tried to start my shopping with my huge awkward cart. I think I knocked like 10 things off the shelf. I'm sure I looked like someone child services should have their eyes on, but I didn't really care. I guess since I've already survived one tantrum throwing toddler, I don't really mind what others think or say with this one. I was just about to throw in the towel and try shopping another day when I thought I would try singing to her. I held her writhing, screaming body close to me and started singing "I Am a Child of God." Miracles of all miracles ( I love it when prayers are answered that quickly!!) she stopped screaming and started calming down. The rest of the trip went better than the first half, but I was glad to get my children buckled into the car. I have a feeling we are in trouble with this one....

Whooo, Whooo
There hasn't been a lot new around here recently. Lindsey is sleeping better after her vocabulary explosion. I am a firm believer that kids don't sleep as well right before they are going to master a new skill. Their brains are going a million miles an hour, so it's tough to sleep. Unfortunately, she got in the bad habit of sleeping in OUR bed (because WE would bring her into to bed so she would stop crying and go back to sleep quickly- hey- we were sleep deprived!), so now we've got to ignore the 3 am wake up cry. A few new words: worm, color names (my fav is purple), mine, mine, mine, let me see, etc. It's fun having her talk more. We hope it will cut down on her screaming. I really believe I am losing my hearing.
Lindsey discovered that she had an owl on her shirt and Jack had an owl on his jammies, so I had them pose for a quicky shot. Miracles of miracles, they both smiled and looked at the camera. Please excuse Lindsey's wt hair. I want to grow her bangs out, but she won't wear clips, so it's always in her eyes. And she has this mullet thing in the back. I hope her hair turns out okay. :) And that IS a tent behind them. Jack has insisted on sleeping in his tent in the play room for the last week. It's been nice though because we haven't had to worry about Lindsey waking him up in the middle of the night. Maybe a permanent arrangement?!?

Lindsey got a stroller this morning for her baby. We found the stroller frame while we were hiking one time (I know- really random) and my grandma made a seat for it. She has played with it all morning- she even brought it to Clint's volleyball game. I'm kind of glad she likes dolls too. For a while there, I thought she was going to be all about the cars and balls like her brother.

Halloween Fun!
We had a little Nemo and a spooky Spiderman running around our house this year for Halloween. Clint's office had a Halloween party in the afternoon. We trick-or-treated around the office and then had lots of yummy goodies. The kids actually did pretty well despite the massive amount of sugar intake in a small amount of time. Once Spidey started climbing on the walls, we knew it was time to high-tail it out of there.

After the party, we headed to my parents. They have a great neighborhood in which to trick or treat. Jack was so excited to practice out his "trick or treat" phrase and show off his sweet spidey moves.Lindsey held her own and wanted to walk most of the way. Her hat came off before we even walked out the door so some people thought she was a pumpkin until they saw her little tail. The kids made out like bandits- they had to keep dumping their pumpkins into a plastic bag we brought because they got so heavy. Now we have enought candy to last us until spring (well, probably not at the rate that we are inhaling it :))
